What is RIAEM? The Rhode Island Association of Emergency Managers is a professional association committed to advancing Emergency Management and related fields. Our members are emergency managers, fire professionals, law enforcement professionals, volunteers and other professionals who work in the public, private and non-profit sectors. We strive to make our communities and the State of Rhode Island a more prepared and more resilient place when confronted with any hazard. Outreach with Elected Representatives
Kevin Kugel, the RIAEM VP, and Chris Harwood, the RIAEM representative to the Governor's Emergency Management Advisory Council, joined emergency management representatives from across the New England states on a legislative advocacy trip to Washington, D.C on October 19th. While there the emergency managers met with the offices of their Congressional delegation to open lines of communication and discuss current emergency management related legislation. Chris and Kevin had successful meetings with staffers from Senators Reed and Whitehouse's office and had an in person meeting with Rep. Magaziner.
